Please reply on neo160884@aol.com|||1. Look at your meter. In addition to the dials that point to units of electricity used, there is a disc below (like a CD, only smaller) that slowly spins, when any of your appliances are using electricity.

2. Turn off ALL appliances -- bulbs, computer, fan, cellphone charger, etc -- and verify that this disc is absolutely stopped -- not even a tiny "crawl". This verifies the meter is accurate at zero current. NOTE: If the wheel does not stop, then you have a "sneak" appliance plugged in somewhere! What about hot water heaters, hot-plates, etc??

3. Turn on each appliance -- just ONE at a time -- and record the EXACT time (in seconds and minutes) it takes the wheel to rotate 360 degrees. This time is an exact measure of the current the appliance is using.

4. Make an appointment with your electric company to send out a "meter reader/technician" who can convert your time measurements into power used by each appliance (measured in watts). Check each Watt measurement against the rated watts of each appliance -- 60W bulb, etc.

5. When you make the appointment, ask your electric company to install a new meter -- tell them you don't trust the old one.

6. This will solve your problem. Believe me, if you try to tamper with the electric meter, you will receive a fine larger than any possible electric bill. Plus, you will get an electric shock (240 volts, unlimited current) that will knock you on your a$$, and possibly kill you.

Good luck!
