Thanks|||I agree that efficiency is an important criteria, my front channels do 104 db 1 watt/1 meter and can sustain 124 db (ouch !!!). My rear channels do 99 db 1 watt/1meter and can sustain 116 db. A speaker that takes a lot of watts to produce sound is like a car that uses a tremendous amount of gas to just move.
I use Klipsch LaScala II front channels and Klipsch Heresy III rear channels, at current retail that is about $7600. The Klipsch RF series is also very efficient, has available matching center channels and is less expensive.
The rule of power/db is that for every 1 db gain you have to double power, so if 1 watt will get you 104 db, 2 watts will get you 105 db, etc.
Another interesting thing is that Klipsch products are used in around 50% of movie theaters in the USA, so these guys know how to make products dynamic enough for movies.
Real efficiency is expensive, but totally worth it.|||The louder speakers are 5.1 speakers and now 7.1 are also available in the market .
the speakers of "creative","logitech","jbl",and "bose" are the best in quality for sounds .
the speakers of bose are the best they use gold wires inside speakers instead of copper and they are very expensive .but they are the best in their sound quality .
by the way others mentioned sspeakers are also the well performing once . |||Watts is horrible way to measure speaker loudness. A speaker rated at 87db @ 1,000 RMS watts will be just as loud as a speaker at 96db @ 125 RMS watts, or a speaker that is 99db @ 75 RMS watts. BIG difference.
Look at the speaker sensitivity. its how well it converts the signal to sound. Car speakers suck, and most subs are high 80's dbs and low 90's db. 87db - 93db. High end audio speakers can be all the way up in the 106db and 110 db. only 10 RMS watts would be as good as that big subwoofer that can handle a 1,000 RMS watts. so don't be fooled by watts.
I know this guy that had 2,000 RMS watts on 2 15's in his SUV, And I had 2 JBl's @ 300 RMS watts and you couldn't even hear his over mine... so research, it's worth it.
